Belarus Has Not Responded to Kyrgyzstan's Request on Bakiyev's Extradition

Responsible Official of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Ankara, Deniz Grechanny, during a press conference in Istanbul, said that Belarus had not responded to Kyrgyzstan's request on the extradition of Kyrgyz leader, Kurmanbek Bakiyev. "Now, the provisional government of Kyrgyzstan seeks the way of Bakiyev's extradition to Bishkek", the diplomat said.

«Our government, of course, would like to extradite Kurmanbek Bakiyev from Belarus, but it does not mean that relations with this country will worsen», Belarusian service of Radio Liberty quotes the words of Deniz Grechanny.

According to the embassy official, the interim government has stabilized the country’s situation. «Security forces and law enforcement agencies will take all necessary measures to maintain security and order», Deniz Grechanny said.

In her turn, Kyrgyz Charge d’Affaires in Turkey, Jyldyz Uzakova, during a press conference in Washington stated that «the investigation of Kurmanbek Bakiyev illegal activities continues and its results will be announced once the investigation is finished».

Jyldyz Uzakova also said that there was no response from Belarus on the extradition of the president of Kyrgyzstan. «We have not received any replies from Belarus yet. We will work in this direction. We hope, that Minsk will take the right decision», Kyrgyz Charge d’Affaires in Turkey noted.
