Belarus Increased Subsistence Wage by 15.6%

The Belarusian authorities have decided to raise subsistence wage (SW) by 15.6% to Br343.26 ($114.15) from May 1. The corresponding decree № 553 of the Council of Ministers was signed on April 28. SW monthly amount is set in the average per capita for the main socio-demographic groups in the prices of March and lasts until the end of July.

SW is Br373.26 thousand for able-bodied population, for pensioners — Br294.21 thousand, for children under three years — Br289.43 thousand, under six years old — Br366.22 thousand, under 18 years — Br377.73 thousand, for children of students — Br342.37, reported in the government.

The size of government benefits to families, raising children, has also increased by 15.6% since May 1. Social pensions, as well as allowances, set for some categories of pensioners, have increased as well.

As Telegraf previously reported, the subsistence minimum was defined at Br296.87 thousand from February 1 to April 30, 2011, thus showing 4.9% increase from the previous indicators.
