Belarus is Always Open to Observers, OSCE Secretary General

Belarus is always open to observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. This was stated by OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, when asked at a press conference in Moscow on November 15 about the situation of the future presidential elections. According to him, Belarus has never held elections without involving fewer than 400 observers.

Marc Perrin de Brichambaut said that a formal invitation to send an observation mission, signed by Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Martynov, had been received by the OSCE  the day after the official announcement of the date of presidential elections in Belarus, the agency «REGNUM-Belarus«.

Meanwhile, the long-term OSCE observer mission received the necessary documents for work in Belarus on November 15. The documents were handed to the head of OSCE observation mission, Ambassador Geert Ahrens by the chairman of the Central Commission for Elections Lidia Yermoshina, BelTA informs.

According to Telegraf, a core group of OSCE international observer mission arrived in Minsk on November 12. The mission included 13 people and was headed by Ambassador Geert Ahrens for the third time.
