Belarus Is Invited to the EU Informal Summit

In Sopot, Poland, on May 24 there will be held the EU informal  summit, in which Belarus is invited to participate. Our country will be represented at the meeting by Foreign Minister, Sergei Martynov. It was reported by the press secretary of Belarusian Foreign Ministry, Andrei Savinykh.

«Belarus expects to be considered as a full partner in Europe. So far, the cooperation between Brussels and Minsk has been limited for political reasons, but we hope that it will change», noted the official representative of Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

As Telegraf previously reported, MFA expects from the EU to simplify visa procedures and reduce the visa costs to EU countries for Belarusians soon. «We believe that this measure will strengthen contacts and cooperation between Belarus and the European Union», Head of Information department — Foreign Ministry spokesman, Andrei Savinykh, said on May 13 at a briefing.

Saying that the European Commission intends to submit to the EU Council the recommendations on negotiations with Belarus on the preparation of agreements on visa regime facilitation, Andrei Savinykh stressed that Belarus supports the simplification of visa procedures at all levels and for all categories of citizens.
