Instructed by the Ministry of Forestry of Belarus, in Gomel there started to product Metafosil flame retardant, which is used to prevent and contain forest fires. As of August 1, Gomel Chemical Plant has already produced 56 tons of the substance, 45 tons of which have already arrived in forestry enterprises.
Metafosil fire prevention chemical substance is intended to make preventive long-distance barrage fire fighting lines, barrage line just near the fire edge and supporting lines in forests, contain and extinguish forest fires, informed at the company.
409 forest fires took place in Belarus, Ministry of Forestry
As reported in the Ministry of Forestry of Belarus, by August 4, at the territory on the Republic there had already registered 409 cases of forest and peat fires, which affected 260 hectares of forest. The worst situation with forest fires is in Gomel and Mogilev regions, where there occurred 150 fires and 88 forest and peat ignitions.
«The most important task for the forestry workers of the Republic now is to prevent forest fires. Forestry enterprises has taken additional steps to organize prevention of the emergence and spread of forest fires and their elimination, there strengthen control of fire safety in forests», noted in the Ministry of Forestry.
To prevent forest and peat fires and ensure public safety, such step has been already made in Vitebsk, Grodno, Gomel and Mogilev regions. In Vitebsk region, forest visiting is limited near Vitebsk, Polotsk, Liozno, Surażh and Dretun. In Grodno region — near Grodno and Skidel. In Gomel and Mogilev regions — almost in all areas. Relatively calm situation remains in forests of Minsk and Brest regions. Here, bans to visits forests have not been introduced yet, reported in the Forestry Ministry.
During the ban, there blocked all bar on the roads leading to forests, if necessary, there install additional ones. It is prohibited to burn dry grass, stubble fields, places cut down in forests, fields and meadows. Agricultural enterprises are entrusted to mow grass around centers of population, places of fodder storage, industrial areas.
