Belarus may Pump More Oil in Venezuela

Oil fields Centro Bloque VIII and Lagunillas Bloque XII, located near Lake Maracaibo in western Venezuela, have been referred to the joint Belarusian-Venezuelan oil production company Petrolera BeloVenesolana. President Hugo Chavez signed a corresponding decree on 22 March, reported Belorusneft.

Petrolera BeloVenesolana intends to produce over one million tons of oil in seven fields in 2011. For 2008-2010, actual production of Venezuelan-Belarusian Company has exceeded two million tons of oil. «The assets of the joint venture include another six natural gas fields,» noted in Belorusneft.

New Oil Field Found in Belarus

A new oil pool has been discovered in Kalinkavichy district of Homel voblast. This was stated by the deputy general director of Belgeologiya, company’s chief geologist of oil and gas, Jaroslav Hribik, BelTA informs.

The deposit has been discovered while testing of Novokazanskaya exploration well at a depth of 2.6 km in the upper part of the subsalt carbonate deposits. The influx of oil, produced here, is estimated at 10 cubic meters per day. The oil is of low density — about 0.91-0.92 grams per cubic cm. Detection of deposits has proved it expedient to continue exploration in Chervonoslabodskaya area of oil deposits.
