Belarus needs $1 trillion to rebuild the economy. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on June 17 at a press conference for central and regional Belarusian media. "We're told: you must change the economic structure. But who will give me $1 trillion to restructure the economy? Our structure is wrong, but it has been created for at least 100 years," said the head of state.

«Today you could change the structure, binding it to the sources we have. But what industries we should have developed today: woodworking, pulp and paper industry, agriculture,» said Alexander Lukashenko.

«When millions of people are dismissed around the world becaue of crisis, we haven’t even noticed it. We’ve spent billions of dollars from gold reserves to support the work of enterprises. If people had been fired then they would have died or gone until we have reformed the economy. This is our economy and we’ve built it,» said the head of state.

«Clever clogs» advised me to change our economy 15 years ago. I made a bet on agriculture. We established agro-towns almost in every sector. Previously, all were called villagers, farmers … To change this, I came up with the name of the agricultural towns. But it’s not just a name: the street, the social sphere, trade. Hot water is necessary so that a milkmaid or a pig-woman could be clean to get into bed with the man at night,» said Alexander Lukashenko.
