The Belarusian authorities have initiated the sale of additional shares in Beltransgaz to Russian Gazprom, which is already 50% owned by the Russian monopoly. "Parameters of a possible transaction are now being discussed. However, there's little specifics in this negotiation process," said a source close to the negotiations for the sale of Beltransgaz shares.

According to a source, it is unclear what kind of share of the enterprise Belarusian authorities are ready to sell. He also said that the Belarusian leadership had made the proposal to sell the shares out of the negotiating process of signing a contract on Russian natural gas supplies for 2012-2014, according to Itar-Tass.

As Telegraf previously reported, director of the State Property Fund of the State Committee on Property of Belarus Natalia Zhernosek stated on April 7 about the possibility of selling the state’s share of MTS, Beltransgaz, Grodno Azot and Grodno Khimvolokno.
