Belarus Paid Gazprom for May Gas Delivery

On Tuesday, on June, 22nd, Belarus completely paid Gazprom for the natural gas delivered in the country in May this year, the representatives of the Department of Energy of Belarus informed. Earlier they made the Russian holding's repayment for the gas transit debt, accumulated from the beginning of 2010, a condition that Belarus would pay for gas delivery in May.

The representatives of the Department of Energy of Belarus informed that Minsk cleared fully for May gas delivery, «not waiting for money transfers from Gazprom for transit of the Russian natural gas through the Belarusian gas-transport system and Yamal-Europe gas pipeline in the countries of Europe in May this year», BelTA informs.

As Telegraf informed, Gazprom finished reduction of the amounts of gas deliveries to Belarus by 30 % since 10:00 Moscow time on June, 22nd. According to the head of Gazprom Alexei Miller, such decision is accepted in connection with absence of progress in question of payment by Belarus of gas debts, accumulated from the beginning of 2010.

on June, 21st Belarus offered Gazprom a compromise plan of solving the payment problem of gas delivery in 2010. According to the offer of the Belarus government, the Russian company should pay immediately the debt for transit at a rate of 217 million dollars.

In this case Belarus is ready to repay debts for gas delivery at a rate of 187 million dollars, accumulated from the beginning of 2010, till July, 5th. It is also ready to pay in full for gas, delivered in May till June, 23rd. This information was written in the letter of the Council of Ministers of Belarus to Gazprom.
