Belarus Plans to Earn $300 M a Year from Export of Eggs and Poultry

The Belarusian authorities are going to increase by 2015 the export of poultry meat five times in comparison with 2009. Up to 100 thousand tons of product are planned to be sold abroad a year. Export of eggs is also expected to increase by 40% up to 0.7 billion pieces. As a result foreign exchange earnings for these two positions will be up to $299 million a year. 

Such measures are entered in the development program of poultry in 2011-2015, which was transmitted today, August 17, to the Government of Belarus. According to the document, the implementation of export showings will be reached by increasing till 2015 poultry production in two times to 548 thousand tonnes of live weight.

It’s planned to spend $1.3 billion (Br3.9 trillion) for five-year program carrying on. In this case the total amount of poultry meat and eggs for the next five years is estimated at Br10 trillion. 
It’s planned to finance the programs with the own funds of enterprises (13,5%), with bank loans (84.8%) and with  the resources of the republican budget (2%). 
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Mikhail Rusy informed on active efforts to attract foreign investment for this program. Thus, the minister said, Lukoil and an investor from Syria have «quite serious intentions» to build poultry farms. Nevertheless, the foreign investors are not included in the list of program funding sources. 
Under the program, by 2015, the profitability of poultry meat is expected to be not less than 40%, egg production is expected to be not less than 20%.
