Belarus Plans to Privatize 118 SOEs in 2010

State Property Committee informed that by the end of the year 118 state-owned enterprises in Belarus would be transformed into joint stock companies. Initially, the plan for privatization in 2010, drawn up by the government, included 133 enterprises, but then the list was cut.

As of July 1, 2010, the work on privatization is being executed at 118 enterprises, there created and work commissions for transformation, there carried out an inventory of state-owned property, completed (started) audits of financial and economic activity and checks on correctness of calculation of completeness and timeliness of tax and non-tax payments, reported in State Property Committee.

As a result of the presidential decree, there completed a complex of works on the transformation into open joint stock company of Production Association Belaruskali and its subsidiaries Mila-Style, Dental Centre Estetika.

In addition to the works on creation of joint stock companies in the second quarter of 2010 there was organized work for the sale of two enterprises as property complexes: branch of Mogilevenergo — Bobruisk Fiberboard Plant and republican unitary enterprise Hotel complex Sport. However, appointed biddings were not held due to lack of applications for participation in bidding.

In accordance with the plans of municipal facilities privatization for 2010, with adjustments under decisions of local executive and administrative bodies, there should be privatized 214 enterprises, including: 9 in Brest region, 34 in Vitebsk region, 53 in Gomel region, 39 in Grodno region, 13 in Minsk city, 38 in Minsk region, 28 in Mogilev region.

As of July 1, 2010, there transformed into OJSC three utilities enterprises: Zastarinskoe (Brest region), Smirnov KUSHP (Vitebsk region), KSUP Bumazhkova (Gomel region).
