Belarus will not be able to place Eurobonds in the Asian markets in December this year for technical reasons. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Kobiakov on December 21. According to him, Eurobonds floatation by the end of this year was prevented by the Christmas holidays.

«The best time is always chosen for every placement, the time when the market is ready, as viewed by security holders. Therefore we can’t deal with bonds floatation at any time,» Andrei Kobiakov said.

Deputy Prime Minister also recalled that Eurobonds placement had been planned with a focus on European investors, BelTA informs.

According to Telegraf, Belarus placed Eurobonds of $600 million worth at 9% for five years in summer, 2010. Belarus is also planning to place Eurobonds in Asia, Russia and the United States markets. So, the presidium of the Council of Ministers of Belarus approved the placement of the Belarusian government bonds of at least $ 500 worth in Asian markets on November 23. Simultaneously, the Finance Ministry decided to postpone indefinitely the scheduled floatation of Russian ruble-denominated government bonds of RUB7 billion.
