A candidate for presidency of Poland from the conservative party Law and Justice, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, during TV debates with his opponent from Civic Platform party, Bronislaw Komorowski, supported the idea to begin discussions of human rights violations in Belarus with Russia.

«This is a question which would be nice to raise in negotiations with Russia», Jaroslaw Kaczynski said and added that if he won the elections and Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev, arrived in Poland, then they would discuss Belarus’ issue, Russian service of BBC informs.

At the same time, Bronislaw Komorowski considers such talk as unreasonable. «This is an incredible political idea — to discuss Belarus with Moscow», he said. «I am absolutely against it, it is contrary to national interests of Poland and it is also unacceptable in terms of international relations’ development», the candidate from Civic Platform noted. «It is as if Belarus discussed the situation in Poland with Russia or Berlin».

Bronislaw Komorowski believes that Poland should negotiate directly with the president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.

According to social survey of TVN24 channel, Bronislaw Komorowski won the debates. He won the first round of elections on June 20 as well, leaving his main rival behind by 4.5%.

As Telegraf previously reported, the main differences between Poland and Belarus relate to activities of the Union of Poles in Belarus, split in 2005. As a result, one its part is recognized by Belarusian authorities, the other — by Polish.
