Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus, Alexander Shpilevsky, on May 26 stated that Belarus would never become "the gravedigger" of the Customs Union and not leave it, because it had initiated the creation. In addition, Alexander Shpilevsky considers emerging contradictions as quite natural. "Each party has its own national interests which it stands up for", he said.

Speaking about whether it would be possible for the parties to solve all problems within the Customs Union in a month before July 1, Alexander Shpilevsky underlined that the consultations would be continued. «There worked out a draft decision of the heads of states on the introduction of the Customs Union Code from July1 of this year, that is the Union took place», BelTA quotes the words of the SCC Chairman.

«There prepared a draft protocol on the temporary exception from the common customs territory of goods imported by individuals», Alexander Shpilevsky said. «It’s being introduced the possibility to control certain goods put under protective measures in trade».

According to the chairman of the State Customs Committee, the main problem is the procedure of levying export customs duties. «In this case, the Russian Federation has the first word. The main issues are harmonized, but there left principle key problems we could not agree», Alexander Shpilevsky added.
