Belarus Raises Duty on Potash in 1.5 Times

June 1, 2011, Belarus will increase the rate of export duty on potash, exported from its territory outside the customs territory of the member -states of the Eurasian Economic Community, in 1.5 times up to €75 per ton. It is provided by the decree № 179 of May 4, 2011.

Decision has been made for drawing additional funds into the national budget. Currently, the export duty on potash fertilizer is €50 per ton, BelTA informs.

The document also amends the decree № 525 of October 26, 2009 «On establishing export customs duty on potash fertilizers.»

Belarus first introduced an export duty on potash fertilizer in 2008, when the potash price on spot markets exceeded $1 thousand per ton.
