Belarus ranked 1st in Europe for inflation in 2010. This is proved by Rosstat data, based on the publications of Eurostat, national statistical services, as well as Internet data in accordance with the requirements of the Special Data Dissemination Standard of the International Monetary Fund.

According to the Federal State Statistics Service, Belarus (9.9%), Ukraine (9.1%) and Romania (7.9%) showed the most significant increase in consumer prices last December against December 2009 among the taken foreign countries.

While the average consumer price increase over the European Union countries was 2.6%, as evidenced by the published data.

As Telegraf previously reported, according to the National Statistics Committee of Belarus, consumer price index for goods and services in the country amounted to 109.9% in late 2010 against late 2009, while inflation made just 1% in December 2010.

This figure fell by 0.2% in comparison with 2009 (with 10.1% inflation), although 8-10% was planned for 2010. 7.5-8.5% inflation is expected in 2011, which is provided by the main directions of the current Belarusian monetary policy.
