Belarus Ranks 3rd in CIS in Salary Rate

Last year Belarus ranked 3rd in the CIS in terms of wages. This was stated by the head of statistics in living standards and household surveys of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus Inna Konoshonok at a press conference on April 6. According to her, the salary was equal to $414 in equivalent in 2010.

This figure was $689 in Russia, in Kazakhstan — $526, in Azerbaijan — $405, in Armenia — $291, in Ukraine — $282, BelTa informs.

According to the specialist, a significant proportion (56.1%) takes a salary in the total income of the population of Belarus in 2010. It remains a determining factor in the dynamics of income for most residents of the republic.

Average monthly salary in Belarus (except small businesses of non-state ownership) in totaled Br1.23 million last year and has increased by 14.9%  in real terms as compared with 2009.

According to statistical data, budgetary institutions’ nominal average monthly wage amounted to Br983.7 thousand in 2010, having increased by 18% in real terms compared with 2009.

Average Size of Pensions in Late 2010 Amounted to $195

In addition, according to Inna Konoshonok, the average size of pensions amounted to $195 in equivalent in Belarus at the end of last year, in Russia — $249, in Ukraine — $145.
 
In December 2010, Belarus’s average size of pensions amounted to Br584.7 thousand, and increased by  23.9% in real terms in comparison with December 2009.

The average retirement pension totaled Br612.1 thousand in December last year, disability pension — Br532.7 thousand, survivor penion — Br356.4 thousand, social benefit — Br244.3 thousand.

Currently, pension schemes of the labor, employment and social protection cover about 2.5 million people,  80% of whom recieve the recipients of old-age pensions, 11% — disability pension, 5% — survivor’s pension and 2% — social pension.
