President Alexander Lukashenko declared on February 23 that Belarus had demonstrated the whole world how to defend the sovereignty, stability and security. At the same time, speaking at a reception of the management staff of the Armed Forces and law enforcement officials on the Day of Motherland's Defenders, he noted that law enforcement agencies should remain wide awake and "keep their powder dry."

President urged the law enforcement leaders and every single officer to exercise particular responsibility for ensuring the conditions for creative work of the Belarusian people in the present circumstances, BelTA informs.

According to the Belarusian leader, «the solution of a very complex and demanding task is ahead of us.» «Including the new concept of national security, further modernization of the Armed Forces, maintenance of their high military readiness and morality. For this purpose you have not only the necessary resources, but the main thing — support of the state and the people, every citizen’s awareness of participation in protecting Motherland, the responsibility for maintaining peace and stability in our common Belarusian home,» said President of Belarus.

New Threats can’t be Eliminated by Old Methods, Lukashenko

Alexander Lukashenko said that new times bring new challenges to Belarus that can’t be removed by the old methods. Therefore, they require special attention and skill to give an adequate response, the president said.

According to the Belarusian leader, the country’s security system, though managed to withstand the test of strength, still «needs constant improvement, as the environment, we live in, is radically changing.»

«Belarus has gained sovereignty for the first time in its multy-century history. And you are urged to defend our greatest achievements. It is an honor and a huge responsibility. So let the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus always be the pride and reliable support for the country, while the military service — a matter of a special public importance and high moral values, a school of manhood and citizenship for our youth,» the Belarusian president addressed to the officers.
