The Belarusian State Concern "Belneftekhim" and zaporojskaya "Zirka" held negotiations on the conditions of Venezuelan crude oil transportation by river transport, which will be delivered to Mazyr through Ukraine by the Dnieper. The Belarusian side intends to implement a trial of oil supply by the river in April 2011.

According to the journal «OilMarket», honorary «Zirka» president Anatoly Ovsievsky told, that Venezuelan oil could be overloaded in Odessa from the tanker onto barges and sent down the Dnieper to the Pripyat River, where it’s necessary to restore the River Oil Terminal «Zhary» and the pipeline to Mazyr.

In this case, the representative of the Ukrainian company noted that the oil terminal «Zhary» had lost its relevance after the Chernobyl accident. Anatoly Ovsievsky added that the Belarusian side was interested in this project, which, in turn, would allow Ukraine to revive its waterway,» IA «REGNUM-Belarus«.

«It’s possible to transport 1 million tons of oil by a new route for seven months of navigation. Barges will be downloaded with the potash produced in Belarus not to go back to Odessa empty,» the Ukrainian representative said.
