Belarus believes it promising to cooperate with Germany in the energy sector. First of all, it concerns alternative energy, where Germany possesses advanced technologies. There are already concrete results and examples of mutually beneficial cooperation in this area, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Aleinik said.

Deputy Foreign Minister noted the importance of annually held meetings of the Belarusian-German Economic Cooperation Council. The foreign ministers of both countries meet regularly as well. According to Sergei Aleinik, traditional Minsk forum, to participate in which the German government representative is expected to arrive in Belarus in 2010, also contributes to the development of bilateral dialogue, BelTA informs.

Sergei Aleinik expressed hope that the positive dynamics of Belarusian-German economic cooperation to continue in the future. The Belarusian side will do its utmost in this direction, the Deputy Foreign Minister assured.

«We still count on the German side support in the economic and social reforms in our country, as well as in a very important issue of visa regime simplification between Belarus and the EU, which restricts our citizens’ movement,» said Sergei Aleinik said.

Deputy Foreign Minister expressed confidence that «our joint efforts to develop and strengthen all-level bilateral dialogue, will lead to closer cooperation between the peoples of Belarus and Germany in a peaceful, stable and prosperous Europe without division lines.»
