Belarus will renew licensing in the gambling business from January 1, 2011. Now, the license will be issued by the Ministry of Taxes and Levies (MTL). As noted in the ministry, only legal entities, registered in Belarus, will now be able to get a license for gambling business.
Such amendments to the legislation are provided by the decree of President of Belarus № 599 of November 19, 2010. Now individual entrepreneurs (IE) will not have a possibility to do gambling business, as it used to be before. According to the Ministry of Taxes and Levies, it’s caused by the nature of gambling.
It’s hard for individual entrepreneurs to be engaged in this activity, since it can only be done with the involvement of family members and close relatives. «This is proved by statistics on the activities in the gambling business: none of the eight entrepreneurs with the special permission (license) to work in the gambling business carried out such activities in 2010,» the MTL of Belarus.
In addition, under the new rules, the requirements to the working record of the head (his deputy) of gambling organizations will also be changed. Thus the service record for the top manager has increased from three to seven years of experience, BelTA informs.
At present, about 400 gambling facilities (casinos and arcades) and some 200 bookmakers are now operating in Belarus.
