Belarus to Switch into Winter Time on October 31

All Belarusians will set their watches back an hour at 03:00 on October 31, 2010, the State Standard of Belarus. In accordance with the procedure of time calculation, stated by the government, the "summer" time is completed in the republic.

According to Telegraf, the first time the hands of a clock were set ahead one hour in summer and back one hour in winter to save energy resources in Britain in 1908, then this initiative was gradually borrowed by some 110 countries around the world.

Doctors believe that the time failure has a negative impact on the health of most of the population. In connection with the time setting such chronic illnesses as ulcers, hypertension, neurological diseases could be exacerbated. Children and the elderly are particularly vulnerable to changes in the time — jump.

Experts believe that adaptation to the new time requires above two weeks, during which doctors advise not to overwork, to take vitamins, to increase the proportion of fruits and vegetables with vitamin C and try to minimize the mental and physical stress.
