To reduce the debt burden in the frames of strategy to control external public debt, Belarus does not rule out the possibility of taking new loans. It was reported by Finance Minister, Andrei Kharkovets. However, it will be made basing only on established indicators of economic security, the head Ministry of Finance underlined.

The minister stressed that the attraction of credit resources is necessary «to implement investment and infrastructure projects aimed at ensuring the economic development of the republic, to issue state bonds on foreign financial markets in order to diversify financial instruments «, BelTA informs.

The official also noted that the level of Belarus’ external public debt does not exceed established parameters of economic security and at the beginning of the year it amounted to 7.9 billion dollars, while the limit is equal to 8.5 billion.

Last year, Belarus already attracted the loans from the IMF, World Bank, Russia. Their demand was caused by the need to fund the balance of payments deficit, as well as to replenish the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
