Belarus Wants to Achieve Positive Trade Balance by 2013, Sidorsky

Belarus plans to achieve positive foreign trade balance by 2013. It was stated on July 27 by Prime Minister of Belarus, Sergei Sidorsky, at a meeting of the Council of Ministers. "In the first half of this year, there improved qualitative parameters of development and balance of economy", Prime Minister said.

«We have exceeded the growth rate of goods export over the growth of imports by 12.9%. In January-May 2010, negative balance of foreign trade was 500 million dollars less than over the same period of 2009», Sergei Sidorsky said, BelTA informs.

«This figure is the main for us», Sergei Sidorsky said. «During past eight months, we have been actively engaged in sectoral and regional programs, including to achieve positive balance by the end of 2012».

According to Belarusian Prime Minister, if the rate of negative balance reduction (500 million dollars every six months) will be maintained and «programs, we have agreed for this year and 2011, will be carried out, there is every reason to achieve positive trade balance by January 1, 2013, in accordance with parameters, we built for the next five years till 2015».
