Belarus Wants to Agree on Transport Control with Russia as Soon as Possible

Belarus addressed Russia to expedite the process of coming to draft intergovernmental agreement on the organization of transport control at the external border of the Union State. It was reported by the head of foreign trade activity and transport logistics department of Belarus' Ministry of Transport and Communications, Sergei Negrei.

The representative of Belarus’ Ministry of Transport held a meeting in Almaty with State Secretary-Deputy Transport Minister of Russia, Sergey Aristov. The officials of two countries agreed on operational transfer of quota of Russian permits of third category to the Belarusian side for quota of the fourth quarter of 2010, BelTA informs.

Moreover, Sergei Negrei met with Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan, Azat Bekturov. The representative of Kazakhstan proposed to hold bilateral meeting and discuss issues of international road transport.

As it was reported in Belarus’ Ministry of Transport, in Almaty there were also held a meeting of EurAsEC transport policy Council, attended by representatives of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The sides discussed the harmonization of draft agreement on the organization of perishable fruits, vegetables and potatoes trade in the markets of EurAsEC member-states, as well as development of commodity distribution system. The Belarusian side stated that draft’s clauses related to transport should be examined in detail and after its consideration took decision during the next EurAsEC transport policy Council to be held in November 2010.

At present meeting, among other things the parties examined a draft of common requirements for limits on total weight, dimensions and axial loads of vehicles engaged in international transportation. The project was approved in general.
