The meeting of the Border Committee of Belarus and Russia, held in Pskov, Russia on November 11, resulted in approving a vision of the border security of the Union State for 2012 - 2016. The meeting's participants also suggested creating a single Belarusian-Russian visa for the third countries' citizens.

«We have decided to work towards a common visa space. An interesting proposal has been announced today to create the Union State visa, available at the consulates of the two countries, by abolishing visas in Russia and Belarus,» chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus (SBC) Igor Rachkovski said, BelaPAN.

The head of SBC of Belarus noted that there was a paradoxical situation with the visa-free space, lacking a common visa policy. «The question is to be unified. The Customs Union will evolve over time into a single visa space, including Kazakhstan,» he said.

«Despite some skeptical statements upon the fact that the union state is dying, at a last gasp, anyway, we can judge by our example that cooperation is developing dynamically,» Igor Rachkovski said.
