Belarusian Amateur Astronomer Discovers the Supernova

April 10, amateur astronomer from Vitebsk, Vitaly Nevsky, in the observatory built at his summer cottage discovered previously unknown star. Soon, the council of scientists from different countries found that this star is a supernova, moreover, it's of rare type.

This is the first time in Belarus, when an amateur astronomer discovered supernova, European Radio for Belarus reports.
 
In 2009, Vitaly Nevsky discovered an asteroid named in honor of his mentor, a teacher of astronomy of Vitebsk State University, Vladimir Golubev.
