Belarusian Anton Korovkin Wins First Youth Olympics' Gold Medal

The representative of Mogilev sport school of trades unions, Anton Korovkin, won Gold medal in archery at the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. Young Belarusian sportsmen won the medal in pair with an Italian sportswoman, Gloria Filippi, reported in the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

In the final, Belarusian-Italian duet beat Slovenian-Greek couple 7:3 (36:31, 35:38, 37:37, 39:33, 37:34 = 184:173). This medal became the first for Belarusian team at the Games.

In its turn, the NOC of Belarus congratulated Anton Korovkin with the winning of «gold».
National Olympic Committee of Belarus sent the congratulation letter to the champion of the first summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in archery, Anton Korovkin.

The NOC’s letter, in particular, reads that archery requires self-confidence, strength of character, self-control and strength of will, and young athlete demonstrated all these qualities in proper manner.

The Olympic Games are held in Singapore from August 14 to 26.
