Representative of Opretion and Analysis Center (OAC) under the President of Belarus, Sergei Kravtsov said that the decree № 60, stipulating the measures to improve the use of the national segment of the Internet will not limit the freedom of information. According to the OAC representative, "the decree aims to regulate the relations among telecommunication operators, organizations and ordinary users."

«They say, the access to information will be limited in the national segment of the Internet. But the whole situation can be characterized by Shakespeare’s «Much Ado About Nothing,» Sergey Kravtsov said. According to him, nobody can say today that he’s been limited in the Internet access without personal consent, BelTA informs.

The same opinion is shared by «Alternative Digital Network» Director General, Igor Sukach. According to him, Belarus has already been practicing the application of the decree, signed on February 1, 2010, and now it does not cause as many problems now as it used to be.

As Telegraf reported, the press service of the president had claimed that the presidential decree № 60 «aimed at protecting the interests of citizens, society and state in the sphere of information, higher quality and cheaper Internet services, ensuring further development of the national segment of the Internet.» Apart from this, the decree tightens fight against piracy in the Internet, regulates the activities of online stores and requires providers to restrict access to information at the request of users.
