The Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of the Republic of Belarus intends to announce the official results of presidential elections at a meeting on December 24. This was reported by the CEC secretary Nikolai Lozovik. At the same time, he noted that ten days were provided by law for the final results of the elections.

However, since the CEC, according to him, did not receive serious complaints with reference to the facts, based on which one could challenge the election results, «we will be able to hold a meeting and announce the official election results on December 24,» BelTA informs.

According to the CEC secretary, district and voblast commissions of the same type are inundated with complaints from the opposition. «The opposition parties, sending observers to the elections, as well as their representatives into the electoral commissions, set as a target not to achieve the rule of law during the elections, and to discredit the electoral system of the country and the whole of Belarus in general,» he said.

«They (the opposition’s actions — Telegraf) were not based on the requirements of the electoral law. They knew that some of the actions, imposed by them on the election commissions, did not fit into the framework of the electoral law. The CEC had repeatedly pointed out to this fact. Nevertheless, they armed provocateurs and directed them to the district commission with those ready-made statements, and now they are bombarding the precinct and the Central Election Commission with these statements,» Nikolai Lozovik said.

Recount was Carried out in One of the Polling Stations, Lozovik

As noted by the CEC Secretary, due to the actions of an observer and a member of the commission from the opposition there was an error, when completing the protocol at one of the polling stations in Minsk. According to Nikolai Lozovik, they behaved very aggressively, and destabilized the work of the commission. «A particularly nervous situation was triggered during the counting of votes; the ballots were literally snatched from the hands of chairman of the commission,» he stressed.

Because of this, the protocol lacks these ballots with against-a-votes, Nikolai Lozovik said. At the same time, the «alignment of the votes for the candidates was correct,» Secretary of the CEC said.

As Telegraf previously reported, according to preliminary data of the CEC, Alexander Lukashenko won elections with 79.67% of the votes.

Alexander Lukashenko’s closest rival at the elections was Andrei Sannikov (2.56%), followed by Yaroslav Romanchuk — 1.97%, Rygor Kastusiou, Vladimir Niakliaeu — 1.77%, Ales Michalevic — 1.2%, Vital Rymasheuski — 1.1%, Viktor Tereshchenko — 1.08% and Nikolai Statkevich — 1.04%. Dmitry Uss got the least of all votes (0.48%). 6.47% of people voted against all the candidates.

Voter turnout at the polls at this election was 90.66% against 92.7% in the elections of 2006.
