Belarusian construction market is insufficient with specialists: they are ready to be accepted from abroad. Currently, about 16% of vacancies in Minsk are involved in the construction industry. For example, on July 1, Minsk construction organizations lacked 600 masons, 450 painters, 230 roofers, 600 fitters, 450 welders, 740 plasterers and 270 cement workers.
Specialists forecast that over the next five years the situation won’t be changed, and builders in Belarus will continue to be in short supplies. In this regard, construction companies are actively promoting the work of migrant workers. Decree of the President of Belarus allows making decisions of granting permits to work in the country for a short time, «Zautra Tvayoy Krainy,» reports.
For example, building organizations in Navapolatsk plans to involve workers from Lithuania. Vitebsk also needs builders. There, the company Stefs-AB, owned by businessmen from Latvia, was commissioned to build an apartment building in the amount of 3,8 million euros.
At the same time, the majority of workers emigrating from Belarus abroad are representatives of building trades. Thus the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy of Poland is ready to stimulate the process of employment Belarusian and Ukrainian citizens. The Ministry has developed a resolution which advances a permanent simplified procedure, introduced as an experiment.
Under this simplified scheme, Polish employers, willing to hire a Belarusian, must only notify the local Labour Office, providing evidence that the alien has no outstanding debts and claims by law enforcement agencies at home. After that, the foreigner has the right to work in Poland for six months.
Polish authorities have already been satisfied with the results of the experiment. Thus, according to the ministry, in 2008 Polish companies employed 156 thousand citizens of the Eastern Europe countries, in 2009 — 189 thousand. As a rule, they are engaged in agriculture and construction.
