Employees of the Central district interior department arrested a 19-year old local resident, who is suspected in a very large-scale fraud. According to investigators, the young man offered a man on the internet to buy $18 thousand, but during the transaction slipped cut paper instead of banknotes to the buyer.

The enterprising young man found the currency buyer by an ad on the Internet. To crook got carefully prepared for the deal: rented an apartment, hired an assistant via web. He came up with another version of reality for a girl assistant, explaining that he didn’t want to let himself be noted.

Shortly before the agreed meeting, scammer had contacted the buyer and offered to exchange money through a daughter who was at home. The visitor came to the apartment on the first floor, handed the Belarusian rubles to the girl, who hastened for the promised currency, allegedly being in the next room safe.

In the next room, the girl gave a packet with rubles to his employer through the window and received another package from him — the currency for the buyer. Deception was discovered only when cut paper was discovered in the package instead of $18 thousand.

The defendant was detained only two weeks after, but he had already spent most of the stolen money, by purchasing two cars — BMW and Mazda.

The policemen suggested that a suspect might be involved in other fraudulent activities. A criminal case was opened with respect to the detainee; the young man could face 3-10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
