Belarusian diesel fuel is gaining the markets of the Baltic countries step by step. In particular, according to Lithuanian media, this year the citizens of Latvia buy less Lithuanian gasoline than Belarusian. Furthermore, the sales' volumes of Belarusian diesel fuel in Latvia exceed sales' volumes of Lithuanian diesel fuel.

Thus, in the first quarter of this year the share of Belarusian diesel fuel on Latvian market was 38.6%, Lithuanian — 24.9%. Over four months, the market of Orlen Lietuva diesel fuel (the only refinery in the Baltic countries) in Latvia decreased by a half, DELFI reports.

In Lithuania, the sales of Belarusian diesel fuel are also growing. As the chairman of the Association of Lithuanian fuel traders, Dainius Janėnas, reported, importers take in little amounts of Belarusian diesel fuel at the time. However, the situation will change, Lithuanian expert believes.

«It has become easier to import diesel fuel due to more liberal conditions. In addition, till the end of 2009 entrepreneurs have stopped their obligations before Orlen Lietuva. I think that the share of Belarusian diesel fuel will increase on Lithuanian market, because it’s profitable to import it», Dainius Janėnas noted.
