Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina admitted on December 20 that she's dreaming of the OSCE observers' mission to recognize the presidential elections in Belarus. "This is my cherished dream. And dreams should come true, especially on the New Year's Eve," Lidia Yermoshina said.

The CEC head announced that this year’s presidential elections had welcomed so many observers as never before- more than a thousand international observers and over 39 thousand of the national ones (there were about 32 thousand at the elections in 2006), BelTA informs.

According to Telegraf, the Belarusian CEC recognized the presidential elections as legitimately held. Lidia Yermoshina announced preliminary results of voting in the presidential elections early in the morning on December 20. According to the CEC, Alexander Lukashenko won the elections, as more than 5.1 million people (79.67%) had voted for re-election of the incumbent president for a fourth time.
