Belarusian Gold and Currency Reserves Increased by 7.5% For Three Months

During the first three months of this year, gold and currency reserves of Belarus increased by 421.4 million dollars (or by 7.5%), from 5.65 billion dollars at the beginning of the year. According to the standards — calculated by the IMF — on April 1, international reserve assets of Belarus amounted to 6.07 billion dollars, increasing in March by 496.7 million (or by 8.9%).

The growth of gold and currency reserves became possible thanks to the latest tranche of IMF loan in the amount of 670 million dollars, which was received by Belarus in late March. Excluding the IMF loan, the gold and currency reserves decreased by $ 170 million in March, AFN informs.

According to the structure of gold and currency reserves, foreign currency assets amounted to 3.02 billion, increasing by 504.5 million (or by 20%) from the beginning of 2010, including by 292.6 million (or by 10, 7%) in March.

For the last month, other assets rose by 198.4 million (or by 13.6%) to 1.65 billion dollars on April 1. However, in general, their volume decreased by 75.3 million (or by 4.3%) since the beginning of this year.

It’s reported that for March the amount of monetary gold increased by $ 11 million dollars (or by 1.3%) and on April 1, it was equal to 831.7 million dollars, while it was 821.1 million at the beginning of the year.

In its turn, special drawing rights (XDR), according to data on April 1, accounted for 560 million dollars against 578.4 million at the beginning of 2010.
