The Parliament of Belarus will necessarily invite the representatives of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly to participate as observers in the upcoming presidential elections. This was reported by the chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives for international affairs and CIS relations Sergei Maskevich.

According to the Belarusian MP, the members of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic discuss, whom of their foreign counterparts to invite for short- and long-term monitoring of the forthcoming elections. The parliament plans to adopt the corresponding solution in the near future, BelTA informs.
«We already know that the invitations of the National Assembly of Belarus will be sent to the representatives of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. The MPs discuss actively also invitation of the representatives of other foreign parliaments. The main aspect of the discussion is not to forget and not to offend anyone,» Sergey Maskevich said.
According to the electoral legislation of Belarus, the right to invite foreign observers to the elections belongs to the President, the House of Representatives, the Council of the Republic, the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Central Election Commission.
At present Belarus is being visited by the technical mission of the Bureau for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. It should determine the timing and composition of the OSCE mission to observe presidential elections in the country.
