24 Thousand of Belarusian Poles Signed Letter to Polish Embassy

 Open letter of Belarusian Poles to the higher authority of Poland handed to the Embassy of the Polish Republic in Minsk on March 10. Originators of the request ask to organize a meeting of UPB representatives with Polish officials, also "to take measures to stop rampant of media falsity in Poland" and to give Polish public a possibility to listen to an independent information from the Poles themselves.

«Open letter is signed by more than 24 thousand Belarusian citizens of Polish nationality. Signatories represent all regions of Belarus. Most of them are not members of any political parties, associations and unions. They are ordinary citizens who cherish the honor of their country,» — said Deputy Director of National Library of Belarus Stanislav Kasperovich whose signature is also under the text of letter.

According to the signatories,Belarusian state never violated and does not violate the rights of national minorities, and even promotes the rights of these minorities.

«In our country exist all the conditions for education in the Polish language, its study, preservation and development of historical and cultural heritage of the Polish people — note the undersigned. — All Polish Houses of the country actively carry out their cultural and educational activities», — the letter says.

Representatives of the Embassy of Poland received the letter, promising to transmit it through diplomatic channels to addressees as soon as possible, BelTA informs.

February 26, Belarusian citizens of Polish nationality originated an open letter to the Polish authorities, urging to stop discriminatory policy towards their fellow countrymen.

«We urge not to divide Poles to friends and enemies. In multinational Belarus all the peoples feel themselves as citizens of their country, regardless of nationality and religion,» — notes the letter.

According to the majority of Belarusian citizens of Polish nationality, Anzelika Borys, and her small entourage are not authorized to represent the interests of the Polish minority in Belarus.
