Belarusian Rescuers Put out 83 Fires in Russia, the MES

Over five days of work, composite detachment of Belarusian MES eliminated 83 fires in three districts of Ryazan region of Russia. Belarusian rescuers extinguished 51 forest fires, five peat fires and 27 fires of dry vegetation and shrubs. It was reported in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus.

Composite detachment of Belarusian MES started its work to extinguish natural fires in Ryazan region of Russia on August 7. The activity involves 150 people and 25 vehicles. During yesterday (August 11), Belarusian rescuers eliminated 17 forest, one peat fire and five dry vegetation and shrubs fires with total area of 23.5 hectares.

In every place of their work Belarusian rescuers together with forestry employees were felling and sawing trees. During these works, a tree fell on a forester near Kriushi village. MES employees rescued the man and provided him medical assistance.

The rescuers prevented fire front spreading to villages in the area of Lopukhi and Kriushi settlements. Near the settlements of Lopukhi and Olgino MES officers prevented the destruction of seven vehicles owned by forestry organizations and rescued 10 people, found themselves in the ring of forest fire. Near Malinovka village, rescuers worked to prevent the spread of front fire to the main gas pipeline.

Moreover, during more than seven hours MI-8 helicopter of Belarusian detachment carried out three flights to put out forest fires in Tambov region of the Russia Federation, performing 44 discharges in total.

As Telegraf previously reported, a column of special machinery of Belarusian MES arrived at Ryazan region of Russia on August 7 to assist in fighting forest fires. In the MES of Belarus they do not rule out that Belarusian rescuers may be redeployed to other Russia’s regions if necessary.
