The Supreme Court of Belarus refused to initiate proceedings on the appeal of ex-presidential candidate from the BPF Rygor Kastusiou, who declared about rigging the presidential elections. This is stated in the written reply of the Supreme Court, which the politician received on January 11. According to the letter, Judge Zhukovskaya decided not to prosecute a case because of "lack of reason for institution of an action."

«I was sure to get such a response. Such a decision was announced by the CEC secretary Nikolai Lozovik long before consideration of my application. So I’ve found nothing new in this letter. The Supreme Court has sent a formal piece of paper with the expected outcome,» the PBNF press service quoted the words of Rygor Kastusiou.

According to Telegraf, ex-presidential candidate Rygor Kastusiou filed an application to the Supreme Court of Belarus to reconsider the decision of the Central Election Commission on recognition of the presidential elections’ results. As reported in PBNF, the statement includes a list of violations, recorded by observers, the election commission members and candidates’ representatives.

Meanwhile, the CEC secretary of Belarus Nikolai Lozovik said that the Supreme Court might not consider the complaint of Rygor Kastusiou at all. «The decision of the Central Election Commission to recognize the election results may not be appealed in the Supreme Court. It is not provided by the electoral law,» he said. At the same time the Belarusian legislation assumes the possibility of appeal.
