Belarusians Bring Four Medals from European Swimming Championships-2010

Belarusian diver, Vadim Kaptur, won bronze medal in 10m platform diving at European Swimming Championships, ended on August 15 in Hungarian Budapest. The total of Vadim Kaptur's six jumps was 515.80 points, only 0.65 points behind silver medalist, Patrick Hausding of Germany (516.45). German diver, Sascha Klein, (534.85) became the champion of Europe.

Another Belarusian diver, Timofei Gordeychik, was ranked the seventh (446.15).

Thus, Belarusian divers are carrying two medals from Budapest. Earlier, Timofei Gordeychik and Vadim Kaptur won bronze medals in 10m platform synchro diving.

During the final day of European Championship, Belarusian swimmer, Aliaksandra Herasimenia competed for medals. But this time she could not reach the podium, finishing fifth in freestyle 50m final (24.82 sec.). Therese Alshammar of Sweden became the champion here (24.45 sec.) Silver medal went to Hinkelien Schreuder of the Netherlands (24.66), bronze — to Francesca Halsall from the UK (24.67 sec.).

At the 30th European Swimming Championships in Budapest Belarusian swimmers won two medals in total, both by 24-year-old Aliaksandra Herasimenia. Firstly, she won silver in 100m freestyle (the first medal at Olympic distance in adult career), then she won gold in 50m backstroke, breaking the record of continental championships twice. This is her first gold at top tournaments.

Aliaksandra Herasimenia already won medals of continental forums earlier. In 2002, she became bronze medalist in 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke. At European Championships-2006 she won silver in 50m backstroke. At European Championships-2002 in short swimming pool (the length of the pool is 25m) she was a silver medalist in 50m freestyle.

The Belarusian also has a medal of the world championships. In 2007, she won silver of the world championships in 50m backstroke.
