Belarus's "Dollar" Salary 30% Dropped for Six Months

Belarus's nominal average salary in dollars decreased by 29.8% for December 2010 — May 2011. For example, if the nominal gross wages, equal to Br1.43 million in November, were enough to buy $466 at the rate of Belarusbank (Br3.065 per dollar), then May average salary of Br1.46 million is only enough for the purchase of $327 at the rate of Br4.480 per dollar.

Euro salary decline is even more obvious. €357 could be bought for an average salary at the rate of Br4000 on November 30, while on May 17 — only €228 at the rate of Br6.410. That is the average salary of Belarusians in the euro equivalent decreased by 36.1%, Telegraf reports.

Meanwhile, despite repeated gas price increases, its cost per liter has declined in dollar terms. Thus, if AI-95 gasoline earlier was $1.06 (Br3.240) per liter, now it is $0.84 (Br3.750), Au 92 is, respectively, $0.94 (Br2.870) and $0.74 (Br3.300), A -80 — $0.73 (Br2.250) and $0,7 (Br3.150).
