Belenergo Plans to Export NPP Electricity

First deputy general director of the state production association Belenergo Alexander Sivak said on March 3 that the creation of joint Belarusian-Russian venture for sales of future NPP electricity will let Belarus go for export. According to Belenergo representative, electricity exports are beneficial to the Belarusian side.

Alexander Sivak has told that there are no specific agreement on the establishment of such a venture in the relations between Belarus and Russia today, but the possibility of implementing this project has been stipulated. The parties may decide on the details of the joint venture later, BelTA informs.

As Telegraf previously reported, the Russian side intends to take an active part in building future nuclear plant, including, allocating money for this project. The Belarusian side does not know the size of loan for NPP construction will be provided by Russia — the parties are currently negotiating.

Meanwhile, March 2, it was reported that Belarus and Russia had agreed on a draft intergovernmental agreement on nuclear plant construction. What is more, work on a draft intergovernmental agreement on the parallel operation of power systems of Russia and Belarus has been also completed. In addition, the parties have come to mutually beneficial decisions at the level of the ministries of Energy of Belarus and Russia, regarding the creation of joint Belarusian-Russian venture for electricity sales.
