Belneftekhim Responds to "Stop petrol!" Organizers

Belarusian State Concern on oil and chemistry sent a letter to Konstantin Mikhailov, who is one of the organizers of "Stop petrol!" rally against the increase of fuel prices. It was official reaction to rally participants' appeal to review the order of fuel prices formation.

Belneftekhim informs that the decision to change prices of petroleum products is made by the concern in the frames of legislation. The letter says that «the concern has a right to regulate prices and surcharges on petroleum products, basing on state interest and socio-economic situation in the country», Belarusian service of Radio Liberty informs.

However, according to Konstantin Mikhailov, in this letter the concern did not answer motorists’ questions. «After this letter, usual runaround, there is no other option but to write new messages, hold new rallies. Now, we have started to prepare two letters to the Presidium of the Council of Ministers on the reduction of fuel prices in order to clarify the situation in normal human language», one of the rally organizers said.

As Telegraf already reported, car owners, who held protest «Stop petrol!» rally transmitted collective appeals with a requirement to revise the procedure for the formation of Belneftekhim sale prices on petroleum products. Moreover, the rally participants asked to explain the mechanism and nature of prices formation for oil and oil products sold at country’s gas stations — that are petrol and diesel fuel.
