Belarus finds it very profitable to transport oil via Odessa-Brody pipeline. This was stated by the deputy head of Belneftekhim, Vladimir Volkov, at the House of Representatives on April 4, while presenting to the ratification the agreement on cooperation in oil transportation between the Government of Belarus and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
In particular, transportation costs decreased from $65.2 to 42.5 per ton after signing the agreement at the first stage, when the oil was supplied to Belarus through Ukrainian territory by rail, BelTA informs.
Once the parties have agreed to use the pipeline, «these $42.5 turned into $15 per ton,» said Vladimir Volkov. Intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and Ukraine has been «working in full,» said the deputy chairman of Belneftekhim.
As Telegraf previously reported, in July 2010, Belarus and Ukraine signed an intergovernmental agreement on transportation of Venezuelan oil through the Ukrainian territory to Belarusian refineries in order to increase the volume of oil transportation through the territory of Ukraine by pipeline and rail.
The agreement provides for specific tariffs for oil transportation by rail through the territories of the two countries at a rate of $0.27 per ton for ten kilometers.
