Low birth rate is the main problem in Belarus. In connection with this the State will concentrate all its attention on the solutions of this problem in 2011. This was stated by President Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting on the status and prospects of cancer care development in Belarus, held at the Republican Scientific-Practical Center of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology on October 26.

«If we do not encourage fertility, and not just one or two children but at least three to see an increase, there will be no prospects for Belarus as a nation,» the head of state.

«So that’s where we’re going to focus everything. And those who have three children will receive the biggest benefits,» Alexander Lukashenko noted.

As reported by the presidential administration, in this case the aim is a free three-room apartment, as well as other benefits, such as children maintenance and education, apartment reconstruction. «A flat is good, but it’s expensive to keep it today. Therefore, one should provide large families with benefits depending on their income. And, excuse me, but diapers are expensive, too. $ 300 is a minimum for raising a baby with all this stuff as baby food and diapers. Therefore it’s necessary to provide appropriate allowances for children. It’s the top here,» the president said.

At the same time, he said that the situation in the state is not bad in other matters relating to child support.
