"Black dollar rate" fell again to the lowest mark in Minsk on May 20: Br6 thousand purchase price and Br6.5-7.5 selling price. The same rate was registered on May 18, but on May 19, in anticipation of the visit of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, it dropped to Br5.5 thousand. The dollar rose in exchange offices in Vilnius, where it can be sold for Br5.3 thousand, bought for Br6.85 thousand.
However, the dollar rate remains at the same level in exchange offices. The official rate of National Bank has not changed either. It has been 60-200% undervalued in comparison with those rates, used by the population and businesses, «Nasha Niva.»
As Telegraf previously reported, according to Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin, Belarus will have to spend about $10 billion on the three-year program to stabilize the economy and overcome the currency crisis. The head of the Russian Finance Ministry said that to overcome economic difficulties, including those associated with large trade deficits, Belarus needs to take additional measures to enhance export earnings and investment in the economy.
