Car Taxes in Belarus to Remain Low No More Than a Year, Russia

Deputy Economic Development Minister of Russia, Andrei Slepnev, stated that low import duties on cars for individuals in Belarus and Kazakhstan would be used no more than one year. Deputy head of the Russia's MED, named July 1, 2011 as the date of its increase to the Russia's level.

«We agreed that there would be a period during which they (the citizens of Belarus and Kazakhstan) will work according to the preferential order on cars import for their countries. The transitional period is till common economic space to be created, but no more than a year, the final date is July 1, 2011 as of cars», Andrei Slepnev said, RBC informs.

According to the Russian deputy minister, such a situation is related to the border, which can not be removed until the Customs Union’s member-countries have differences in trade regime.

As Telegraf previously reported, Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus, Sergei Borisyuk, at a meeting in the parliament on June 8 declared that the existing rates of import duties on cars for individuals can be kept in Belarus till 2012.

«It is possible that for Belarus and Kazakhstan there will be provided transitional period up to 2012, and tariffs of duties will remain the same. It is a closed issue at expert level», the deputy chairman of the SCC said.
