According to statistics from the State Customs Committee of Belarus, import of cars by individuals in Belarus three times increased in the last days of June compared to May. As explained by Chief of Customs Control Organization of SCC Vladimir Orlovski, customs duty rates on imported cars are to rise up from July 1.

«There has been established cooperation with customs and border control agencies of neighboring states to register vehicles imported by individuals,» said Vladimir Orlov.

As explained in the SCC, staff working time has been increased at the internal customs clearance points, while some of them (in Brest, Hrodna, Vitsebsk and Ashmiany) have been set to the non-stop working shift since June 27. June 30 all customs clearance points will work until 24:00, BelTA informs.

Head of Customs Control Organization of SCC said that the maximum area for the imported cars’ placement would be given on June 30. If necessary, the checkpoints may temporarily suspend the passage of other vehicles, especially trucks, late on June 30.

According to Telegraf, single customs union duties and taxes on imported cars by individuals will be valid in Belarus since July 1, 2011. The basis for such duties and taxes has become customs duties and taxes currently valid in Russia. According to experts, they are at least four times higher than tariffs on imported cars, currently in force in Belarus.

Meanwhile, the SCC clarified that cars with old clearing fees are necessarily to be registered by the traffic police before July 1. Customs clearance rates are not related to the traffic police, and are calculated on the date of registration of customs declaration by the customs authority.
