Representatives of the Central Election Commission of Belarus believe that the use of different forms of voting, more opportune than voters' presence at polling stations, will help to involve more people in elections process. With the development of new technologies it will become possible to organize voting via Internet and cell phones. This opinion was expressed by the CEC secretary, Nikolai Lozovik.

Prospects to use new technologies in electoral system in the OSCE countries and, in particular, electronic voting will be discussed by the participants of the conference to be held on September 16-17 in Austrian capital. At the forum in Vienna Belarus will be represented by Nikolai Lozovik, BelTA informs.

According to the CEC Secretary, in recent times, many countries have an urgent problem to attract voters to participate in voting because more and more people ignore elections.

The initiative to discuss the issue of electronic voting at the level the OSCE country was made by Kazakhstan — current chairman of the organization. This is the first state in the CIS which introduced a system of electronic voting, using electronic machines developed by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
