CEC Finishes Accepting Applications for Registration of Action Groups

On Friday, September 24 at 19:00 Central Election Commission of Belarus finished accepting of the documents for registration of action groups of presidential nominees. There were received 19 applications, including the withdrawn application of Natalia Starikova, nurse from Homel Voblast, and a protest application of Ilya Dobrotvor, Kalodzishchy dweller.

The CEC intends to decide on registration of action groups at a meeting on September 27.  Signatures are to be collected from September 30 to October 29. Applicant to run for presidency should transmit at least 100 thousand signatures. The candidates are to be registered on November 14-23. The early voting starts on December 14-18. Presidential elections in Belarus are to be held on December 19. The final voting results should be voiced not later not later than December 29. Second round, if necessary, is to be held not later than January 2, 2011. 
On September 20 the Central Election Commission of Belarus registered under the first number the action group of the chairman of the board of the Association of Small and Medium Business Viktor Tereshchenko. 
Further, the applications were filed by Uladzimir Niaklajeu, leader of the «Tell the truth!» civil campaign, Yaroslav Romanchuk, deputy chairman of the United Civil Party, Yuri Glushakov, deputy head of the Belarusian Party of Greens, Sergey Ryzhov, head of foreign economic activity of JSC «Vitsebsk fruit and vegetable plant», Vladimir Provalski, Vitsebsk individual entrepreneur. 
On the last day of receiving the documents on September 24, the CEC received also the applications for registration of the action groups of Andrei Sannikov, leader of the «European Belarus» campaign, Ales Michalevic, leader of the «For modernization» Union. The applications were also filed by Dmitry Uss, director of a limited liability company from Minsk, Sergei Gaidukevich, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party, Ryhor Kastusyou, deputy chairman of the BPF party. 
The documents were also filed by Sergei Ivanov, former deputy director of the Minsk profit organization, now an unemployed 38-year-old citizen of Minsk, Vital Rymasheuski, one of the leaders of the unregistered party the Belarusian Christian Democracy, and Mikola Statkevich, leader of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party People’s Assembly. 
At the end the CEC received two more applications of Ivan Kuleshov, head of «Sosny» Laboratory, and Peter Borisov, retired engineer.
